School Halloween Parade

On Thursday, Oct 30,  Chance had his Halloween parade and party at school.  It worked out really well because it was 1/2 a day--all that hyperactivity could be sent home after lunch- instead of trying to contain it in a classroom.   Chance enjoyed his day as Lucario!

During the parade, he was upset kids kept pulling on his tail-- he now knows how the cats feel.  Pulling on the tail caused the stuffing to become exposed.  He has a little bunny tail.

A Halloween Package

On Oct 25, a Saturday, a package arrived for the boys from Uncle Dick, Aunt Diane, and Zach.   Every year Diane sends them a fun Halloween package!   The timing was especially great because Jordan was just leaving for his band competition and has happy to have a bag of treats to throw in his backpack for the bus ride.

3rd Band Competition

Today it poured rain... although that is really a good thing, it was not conducive to marching.   I am so glad the band director saw fit to continue to the competition and perform rain or shine.   The competition was canceled and they ended up being in the gym in an exhibition performance (non scored).  We watched 5 or 6 bands perform.  They were all awesome!  Jordan's band was the finale.  Although they could not march because of room constraints-- they stayed in one spot, doing their moves and making music.  They did not wear their shakos (hats), so we could see Jordan clearly.  It was nice to see them perform that way, although not the same or grandiaur of the a regular performance.   Scott's Mom flew out this weekend to see Jordan perform.  The rain out did bum us-- but very glad he performed at the football game on Friday night and the exhibition on Saturday.

Happy Birthday Peyton!

Peyton means "Village of the Warrior"

Peyton is my nephew, son of my sister Erica (she is the youngest) and her husband Burdett.   Peyton turned 2 on Oct 24.  I did not get to see Peyton until February of this year when Erica came out with my parents for a visit.    It was such a treat to finally meet this little guy and to see my sister mother him.  He really is as sweet as these pictures.  When they left and I was putting away the airobed, I found a  little sock that he had kick off.  It smelled just like him, baby magic lotion-- I used the same for my kids.  I kept the sock for awhile and sniffed it.  Really I did-- when it lost its smell I returned it on a trip to my Mom and Dad's- that being about six months later.  I'm sure he has outgrown it, but Mom said that the new sibling joining his family could use it.   Erica and Burdett are expecting, I will have to have my mom remind me when.  I have a good friend expecting and with 3 of my sisters and Scott's sister expecting all with-in six months of each other... I have a hard time keeping it all straight.  Well except for Marlo, I was able to keep track off as she does a blog and had the "little floating baby" widget showing the count down.

What can you buy for 25 cents?

Not a whole lot.  Not a phone call, not a stamp-- but you can get a bag of candy the day after Halloween for 25 cents.

 My mom taught me always buy food on sale and when it is a good buy you stock up on it!  Mom, you will be proud of me today.  Look at this-- $300.00 of candy for only $18.00.

   No matter the size or kind they are 25 cents a bag.   I was at Safeway and happened on to this deal.  They need to clear out all the shelves for Christmas-today!  So they marked all the Halloween Candy to 25 cents and all us bargain shoppers were loading it up in our carts as fast as we could.

So what am I going to do with it!  Hopefully not eat it all-- I made a promise to myself while waiting in line that I would have self-control.   I did think that this would be a good addition to my years supply of food.  They say you need stuff like this in times of stress.   I did fill one paper grocery bag for Operation Sam- goes to the troops.  The rest will become part of our food storage.  I am sure we will have no problem rotating through it.  Jordan likes to take a bag of candy on band trips to share with his friends.  Scott likes to take treats for his scouts.   At 25 cents a bag-- how could I go wrong.
