“To get through the hardest journey we need take only one step at a time, but we must keep on stepping”

Here it finally is- Scott and Jordan's 50 Miler, JUNE 14 -20. Scott has a video on You Tube with more pictures- click here - be sure to hit the "View in High Quality" button. So as the narrator and having not been on the hike-- I will do my best!! If you click on the picture you can view it larger.
Troop 949 and 945 at Glacier Point. This is where they started- that is Half Dome in the back ground.

The rivers were swollen-- here they cross in water pretty close to their waists. They carried their boots and socks. Those who had sandals wore them across, others had to do it barefoot. One kid brought flip flops-- he watched one float on down.

Since this is our family blog, I have purposely pulled out the pictures of Jordan in Scott's collection. This is Jordan, the pack mule-- he is a hiking machine.
Here they are at an elevation with snow. Burrr.... notice the bear canisters. What you must use to backpack in Yosemite- all food and toiletries go in these canisters. The boys each carried one.

Love this shot-- Scott captured Jordan taking a picture of Half Dome.

Another picture of Jordan taking a picture!

I think Scott took this picture of what NOT to do--- eat in the same place you sleep. Luckily the boys did not have an encounter with the bears this night.

This is climbing up Half Dome-- you leave your pack behind and climb with a day pack-- walk between ropes.

One of the boys wrote the words "Epic" with rocks-- Scott said that people make sculptures, words, ect with the rocks on top of Half Dome.

Awesome picture of everyone who made the climb to the top of Half Dome-- two boys stayed at the base-- it is a pretty step climb.

Returning to the base, notice all the gloves to the right of the picture. Those are there to avoid cable burn, you return them when you come back down.

There were a lot of people going up when the boys were coming down. You share the same path... click on the picture and you can get a better look of the boys trying to squeeze past those going up. Never go outside the rope-- heard of that happening and the man went bye-bye.

The last stretch of the hike- Misty Falls. I have been here, it was a killer climb. Step pathway that is right next to the falls.
