That's Gold on them Hills!

Rolling golden hills-- that is why California is called the Golden State.  And I bet you thought it was because of the gold found in them hills!  Well actually, I have a read a few different reasons- Gold rush, Poppies, and sunshine- have been attributed to the nick name.  But I like to think it is because of the rolling golden hills of summer.  During the winter and spring, our rainy season, these same hills are green.  But come mid-April all the hills turn this beautiful gold.   Heard the song... "it never rains in Southern California"?  You can schedule an outdoor wedding in the summer and be guaranteed a 99% chance that it will be sunshine and golden hills.

These are the pictures while on the trail from Sunol to Del Valle- the  20 mile hike Jordan, Scott, and Nathan went on this past weekend.  I will try my best to narrate them!

Do you spy Jordan and Nathan?
So I am wondering how Scott managed to take these two pictures of the boys so far away on the trail.  Did you run ahead or do they wait for you?  Also was this when the cow attacked, you seem to be in his pasture.
Sunset or Sunrise?
This must be breakfast, because you did not get to camp until 9pm.   So are you wondering what to do with dishes, since Mom is not around?   Oh and nice bear canister you are sitting on- looks comfy.  Anyway,  I am sure that Scott will let us know what we should be looking for in this picture- exactly.
Love those smiles!
The clouds you see in horizon... that would be the blanket of fog I woke up to Saturday morning.  I was thinking, oh they must be freezing up on Rose Peak.  But here you are... in the sunshine above the fog.
Getting water?
