NO SPOILERS here Ladies~ but you may want to finish reading your book before you read this so I do not influence your overall impressions of the book!
The whole time I am reading I am thinking what has upset everyone... and I kept expecting the axe to fall!
"Breaking Dawn" put emphasis on the value of marriage, motherhood, family bonds, Husband and Wife being two halves that make a whole and finding happiness in a forever family!
By book 3 I was sorely disappointed in Bella-- I felt she was a whiny Drama Queen- I had grown tried of her... but I loved Edward and Jacob! In "Breaking Dawn" she did some growing-up and became a women that is an equal to her husband in many ways---
Many reviews felt this book gave the wrong message to teenage girls. Funny, I was more worried about the first 3 books giving girls the wrong message (example- boyfriend sneaks into girls room each night and dot, dot, dot- never happens! That is not real life!) I felt Bella was NOT a good role model--I was reading it all for Edward and Jacob!! But the 4th book, overall, giving the WRONG message? That just depends on whose message you are delivering!
So Stephenie Meyer- she rocked the world and shook it up... and it has caused a division among her loyal readers! I know where she stands and I stand on the same ground--- FAMILY is central to the PLAN-
... and Bella-- I can finally say she is a heroine and a role model. She shined! And that folks, is what has so many ticked off--- we did not get the Edward and Jacob addiction that we had in the first 3 books. Instead we got something more powerful and depending on where we are standing in our life we either loved the book or hated it!
So anyway... that is my deep thinking philosophy on why there is such a division on "Breaking Dawn"
On the surface--- it is a great FICTIONAL story that was really really enjoyable to read!
And I can't wait for Edward's story!
