Happy Birthday Aalliyah!

Aalliyah means lofty, sublime, exalted

The origin is Arabic

Aalliyah is the youngest daughter of Scott's mom, Sara and her husband Stephen.  Aalliyah is full of spunk and life.  Here are a few things about Aalliyah-- at least how I see it.   I often think if I had a girl, she would be a bit like Aalliyah.  Aalliyah is not a girly, girl.  She does not do the pink and frills.  She prefers Lego's over dolls.  She likes to read lots-- She has read Harry Potter, Eragon, and Twilight. (the same I have read) Her bedroom is decorated in the Harry Potter theme.   She is crafty.  I remember when she came to my home she was crocheting little pot holders and left me with one.   She likes to sing and dance.   We watched a video of a school performance where she sang & danced to a song from "Hairspray".  There is so much personality in her performance.  It was wonderful!  She loves movies and is always up for one.  She moves to her own beat-- she makes her own path.

This picture is from 2006.  You see the sparkle, the spunk in those eyes?  Aalliyah, I love your hair in this picture.

Here she is at Lego Land last year, 2007, at Christmas time.  She is in the foreground and Mckenna is in the background.  (Hi Mckenna! This is me waving at you through the internet)  Mckenna and her are a pair-- they really have a lot in common and LOVE being together.   Mckenna is Scott's sisters daughter.   Are you lost in who is who on the family tree?   Mckenna and my kids are cousins.  Aunt Aalliyah is how she fits on the genealogical chart.    Chance says-- "He likes Grandma's kids!".   It is definitely a perk and fringe benefit to have built in playmates and babysitters at Grandma's house.  

So Aalliyah... Have a GREAT birthday!
