Anyone who knows me, knows that I get pretty passionate about things I believe in. In fact, I can go on and on about it until I notice people's eyes glaze over. In high school it was equality in girls basketball. In the 90's I realized I was just born 10 years too early! In college, my freshman year I drove a few people crazy with basketball, boy (insert name of whom I was frustrated with at the time) and basketball. In fact, I had someone tell me that one time... all you talk about is basketball, basketball, (insert boy's name), basketball and (insert boy's name). Hummm-- that gave me something to think about. Well today... I can talk up a storm about boy scouts. Which I am gearing up to write a blog just on that subject.
But today I am not going to chat your ear off. I am just going to link you to CNN and a video about 4 generations of Eagle Scouts. The 1st generation Eagle is great, look at his moth eaten Eagle ribbon-- good thing that the rest of it is made of a mineral. I wish that they would have included a comment or two from each Adult Eagle how scouting has helped them in their lives.
But since they did not... I will add this one from Lloyd Bentsen, former secretary of the treasury
"I've never forgotten my days as an Eagle Scout. I didn't know it at the time, but what really came out of my Scouting experience was learning how to lead and serve the community. It has come in handy in my career in government."
And one from Eddie Rabbit, country music star
"I went to a little schoolhouse down on the corner where I was involved in a Boy Scout troop. It was my Scoutmaster who really kicked off my musical career. He taught me how to play the guitar. I feel that was my key to the music industry."
